Central African Republic
Landlocked Central African Republic borders Chad, Sudan, Congo and Cameroon. The country is dominated by savannah plateau which is drained by the Ubangi and Chari River systems. There are mountainous regions to the north and west. The climate is very hot with high levels of rainfall. Subsistence agriculture, together with forestry, remains the backbone of the economy, with more than 70% of the population living in outlying areas. The agricultural sector generates half of GDP. Some cotton, coffee, tobacco, and timber are exported. However, diamonds and gold account for more than half of export earnings.
Frequent political turmoil and high transport costs to Douala have led to a decline in offers and quality.
