THE JOY OF AFRICAN COFFEE

Uganda

Since independence in 1962, Uganda has started to attain its vast potential. A landlocked country in East Africa, Uganda consists of a Savannah plateau covered by mountains and lakes – including part of Lake Victoria from which the Nile flows north-wards to Sudan. The climate is mostly warm and humid. The majority of people live in the southern half of the country. Uganda has substantial natural resources, including fertile soils, regular rainfall, and sizable mineral deposits of copper and cobalt. Agriculture is the most important sector of the economy, employing over 80% of the work force. Coffee accounts for the bulk of export revenues, followed by cotton and tea.

Schluters in Uganda

Our associated company, Esco Uganda, has been working in Kampala since 1955. Since then, we have taken an active interest in the liberalisation of the internal coffee market. We are running pulpery projects for washed Robusta, and are servicing smaller local exporters and marketing their coffee for them. We can offer Specialty washed Arabicas, and a full range of natural Arabicas and robustas. We can also supply organic coffees.
